Resurfacing of roads under way in Bothasig and Monte Vista

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate would like to advise residents, road users and businesses of roadworks along various roads in Bothasig and Monte Vista. The roadworks commenced on Monday, 27 January 2025, and are scheduled to end on Tuesday, 1 April 2025 weather permitting and provided there are no unforeseen delays. The work is being done between 07:30 and 17:30, Monday to Friday.

‘The ongoing roadworks in Bothasig and Monte Vista include the installation and repair of kerbs, manholes, channels and the pruning of trees, where applicable. We would like to thank residents and all road users for their patience during the course of this project that will ensure we keep Cape Town moving. Regular maintenance prolongs the longevity of the City’s road network and is vital for economic growth and productivity,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

Work is being done on the following roads:
Bothasig
• Boom Street between Kasteel Street and Vryburger Avenue
• Steenoven Street (west-bound) between Oliphant Street and Swellengrebel Avenue
• De Grendel Avenue parking bays (north-bound) between Goedehoop Street and Meerhof Street
• De Grendel Avenue parking bays (south-bound) between Plattekloof
• Road Circle and Steenoven Street
• Franssen Street between Mostert Street and Ross Street
• Ross Street between Mostert Street and Bothma Street
• Combrinck Street between Franssen Street and Mostert Street
• Mostert Street between Ross Street and Visagie Street
• Visagie Street between Mostert Street and Bothma Street

Monte Vista
• Barrow Street between Camoens Avenue and Barrow Close
• Barnard Street between Sparrman Avenue and Middelburg Avenue
All road markings removed during the process will be reinstated with new retro-reflective road marking paint.

Road users are advised to exercise caution while work is under way, pay attention to road signs, be vigilant in and around the roadworks area, look out for uneven road surfaces, be mindful of the construction workers, factor in longer travel time and to consider alternative routes.
